Knight's Gambit
Knight's Gambit
Cat Spring, TX 1997
Located at the crest of a rolling 100-acre site in the Texas hill country, this ranch house borrows from the character of local buildings. The house is organized around a metal stair 'silo' centered on an L-shaped building clad in limestone block. Planned expansion allows for a caretaker's house which will complete a courtyard focusing on the mature walnut and sycamores planted by the original homesteaders. From the top level of the silo, one has a complete panorama of the property and surrounding foothills.
