Julie Soefer’s photography studio is a study of light. Nestled in the historic tree-filled Westmoreland neighborhood in Houston, Texas among houses and buildings reaching nearly 100 years old, the goal of this space was to create a working photography studio, which would include an office, professional working kitchen (to accommodate her chef clients), dressing and makeup areas for models, and plenty of backdrop opportunities for photography. Due to the ever-changing nature of Julie’s photography projects, nothing in the space could be too permanent. All of the furniture is movable, including the custom modular L-shaped desk system. The space is incredibly flexible. Running through the center of the studio is a 25 foot beam housing an industrial, fully retractable metal panel system. The three oversized panels hold different backdrops that can be changed out for various photography effects.
